Christina Aguilera is eyeing her next album and has already hit the studio to record some new tracks. She’s teaming with producer Linda Perry and plans to have an album of all-new songs out by summer 2009. As for the material, it’s expected to have a very pop and upbeat sound, but with inspiration from the late 1960s. Aguilera tells Billboard, “With my last album, I had music that was very ’20s, ’30s and ’40s, and was very detailed and part of a very specific genre and sound. But with this new album, I wanted to go in a completely opposite direction — a very futuristic, robotic sound and computer-sounding vocals.”
Meanwhile, Aguilera’s best-of collection, Keeps Getting Better: A Decade of Hits, will arrive November 11th as a Target exclusive. It features new versions of “Genie in a Bottle” and “Beautiful,” along with originals of “Keeps Getting Better” and “Dynamite.” It also includes staples such as “Dirty,” “Come On Over” and “Hurt.” Aguilera says the new songs she recorded for her greatest hits set are a good indicator of what her next album will sound like.
Aguilera plans to hit the road next year.
